The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the 2024 season with a 10-7 record and clinched the NFC South division for the fourth consecutive time. This is their longest division-title streak in franchise history. They started the season 3-1, beating playoff teams like the Washington Commanders, the Detroit Lions, and even the reigning defending Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. Their QB, Baker Mayfield, played out of his mind this season, throwing for over 4500 yards and had 41 touchdowns. Both seasons he’s played for Tampa Bay, Mayfield has been consistent and exceptional compared to his earlier days with teams such as the Browns or the Rams.

How did the Buccaneers perform last season?

It was confusing to grade the Bucs as they went on a winning streak at times, but would lose one and go on a slump. For context, the Buccaneers lost four in a row from week 7 to week 10, but then would go on to win four games consecutively from week 12-15.

The Buccaneers played against the Washington Commanders in the wildcard round of the 2024 playoffs but were bounced out immediately, ending their playoff run. Mayfield threw for 185 yards and had 2 passing touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough.

They were ranked 3rd in total offense last season but their defense is where they lack, as the Bucs were ranked 18th in total defense. A couple of more tweaks in their defensive lineup could take them much deeper into the playoffs this upcoming season and with the way Mayfield is currently playing, the Bucs shouldn’t waste his prime.
