“Oh, for sure I have anxiety” – Steph Curry reveals he faces performance anxiety before NBA games

Steph Curry also looked frustrated after Tuesday's 114-98 loss against the Miami Heat.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is feeling the heat of the NBA game and the two-time league MVP expressed that he is getting nervous before a game. The performance pressure is giving a tough time to the league’s most prolific three-point shooter.

Steph Curry revealed that he is facing anxiety due to high expectations of performance. During an interview with ESPN, the Warriors guard opened up about the anxiety he faces every night before the game.

“Oh, for sure I have anxiety,” Curry said. “A lot of it is baked into the expectations I’ve set and the level I want to play at. It’s your own expectations and awareness of what a good game is. It’s a healthy insecurity of having to prove yourself every single night, which is cool. It keeps you going.”

Steph Curry also looked frustrated after Tuesday’s 114-98 loss against the Miami Heat. The four-time NBA champion finished with 31 points and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, for the second straight game, Curry walked out with zero assists. The Warriors star was frustrated after subbing out for the final time.

ESPN’s Tim Keown wrote, “He (Steph Curry) plays with such freedom, ebullience and unflappability that it might come as a surprise, as it did to me, to learn that Curry suffers from performance anxiety, that he approaches every game with an unsettled fear of what lies ahead.”

Step Curry has accomplished everything in his NBA career. He is 10-time All-Star, and a four-time NBA champion. The Warriors star is two-time league MVP and one-time NBA Finals MVP. Steph Curry guided Golden State to the NBA Finals in five straight seasons from 2014-15 to 2018-19 and won three titles.
