Sky vs. Dream Recap: Atlanta Dream overpower Chicago Sky in second half to secure commanding blowout win

It didn’t take long for the Chicago Sky to go back to their usual form. The Atlanta Dream have sent the Sky straight back to losing ways after they had only just snapped their eight game skid.

Chicago hosted Atlanta at the Wintrust Arena on Thursday. The hosts started the Sky vs. Dream game on a strong note. They managed to take a first quarter lead by posting 18-15. In the second quarter, the Sky hit 16-13.

The crowd roared with belief after the first half lead. Chants echoed loudly, and cheers erupted for their hometown players. However, the second half proved to be a huge let down. The Atlanta Dream stormed their way through as scoring floodgates opened.

During the third quarter of the Sky vs. Dream game, the visitors hit a game high 32 points against Chicago’s 18. This not only erased Chicago’s advantage but also handed the Atlanta Dream full control of the contest. The fourth quarter was no different for the hosts.

They were outplayed once again as the Dream extended their score with a 26-13 performance. In the end, Atlanta sealed an 86-65 win with a ruthless second-half showing on the road.

Atlanta duo dismantles struggling Chicago Sky

Allisha Gray was the star of the show as she posted 25 points for the Dream. Jordin Canada followed up by scoring 17 points. The duo formed the cornerstone of what became a completely one-sided blowout performance.

For the Chicago Sky, Rachel Banham scored 18 points. Kamilla Cardoso put up 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists on Thursday.

The Chicago Sky remain at the 11th position of that table with an 8-22 record. The Atlanta Dream are firmly at the third position of the table with 19 wins and 11 losses. They are closing-in on the New York Liberty for that second seed.
