“I Just Really Don’t Care”- Sky Guard Rachel Banham Reacts to Angel Reese’s Comments on Team and Teammates!

Chicago Sky guard Rachel Banham reacted to Angel Reese’s comments she made about her teammates and the organization. In a recent interview, Reese said that the Sky need better players, while suggesting that teammates like Rachel Banham and Hailey Van Lith are uncapable of leading the team. Not only this, but the two-time WNBA All-Star also criticized the Sky coach Tyler Marsh, saying that though she wants to spend her career in Chicago, she would have to move somewhere else if things don’t work for her in this team.

The entire Sky team was reportedly unhappy with what Reese said about them, and the players were also planning a team meeting to address the 23-year-old directly. However, amidst all the drama, Reese’s teammate Rachel Banham shared her honest take on the remarks and said that she was least bothered about what Reese said. According to a recent article from Alissa Hirsh of the Chicago Sun-Times, Banham said that she is least bothered with what was said about her.

“I think I just don’t really care. I’m so over all of this s—. If I was younger, it would have affected me more. But I’m grown and I just don’t care.” Banham added, “It does affect me still because of what everybody is constantly saying about the rest of us. I never want any of my teammates to feel any type of way.”

Notably, the LSU alum issued an apology and said that her remarks were misinterpreted. However, to set an example, the Sky handed her a half-a-game suspension during the upcoming clash against the Las Vegas Aces.

During her interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese shared a blunt message for Courtney Vandersloot, who has been out for most of the season with a torn ACL. She said, “We can’t rely on Courtney to come back at the age that she’s at. I know she’ll be a great asset for us, but we can’t rely on that. We need someone probably a little younger with some experience, somebody who’s been playing the game and is willing to compete for a championship and has done it before.”

The five-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA champion reacted to the remarks and said that despite her age, she is going to comeback. The 36-year-old said, “Oh absolutely. Contrary to what people say or think, my age is absolutely not a factor. I am coming back. I’m gonna come back better than ever.”

Notably, Reese’s comments came after the Sky failed to make the playoffs for a second consecutive year. They are twelfth seeded in the standings with a poor 10-31 win-loss tally.
