Sean O’Malley, the former UFC Bantamweight champion, faced a steep challenge at UFC 316 on June 7, 2025, aiming to reclaim the title from Merab Dvalishvili in a rematch of their September 2024 clash. O’Malley’s Confidence in Beating Dvalishvili

Appearing on the Ariel Helwani show, O’Malley opened up about his UFC 316 loss, admitting he has a next opponent in mind but kept it undisclosed. “Yes,” he said when asked about his next fight, adding, “The date depends on how I feel.” Despite the defeat, O’Malley remains confident he can beat Dvalishvili stating, “I know I’m capable of beating Merab… There’s a world where I’m undeniable and I get that one back.” He acknowledged the need for a winning streak to earn another title shot, emphasizing, “I gotta be undeniable.”

O’Malley also showed love to the bantamweight champ, praising Dvalishvili’s dominance, calling him “the greatest bantamweight of all time.” However, the loss stings, as he admitted, “that one will bug me.” His plan involves recovering and targeting a high-profile fight, possibly against Cory Sandhagen or Umar Nurmagomedov to rebuild momentum.
