Sean O’Malley threw the first verbal punch when he decided to get personal about their upcoming rematch. The colorful striker delivered what he thought would be a killer line about their fight this weekend.

“I’m gonna knock Merab out and come Sunday, no one’s gonna give a f**k about Merab and thats it.”

The comment hit different than his usual pre-fight bravado because it felt more calculated and dismissive than his typical playful trash talk. After all the respect and appreciation, the gloves were off!

The Georgian champion wasn’t about to let that slide without a response. Merab fired back with his own pointed comments about O’Malley’s character and what he planned to do in their rematch.

“Keep talking, and you are gonna get more humbled. You will see June 7th. He was playing all this time like a humble guy, but ok, I will show you again.”

The comment stung because it suggested that O’Malley’s respectful demeanor had been nothing more than an act, a calculated move to look good in front of the cameras and fans. The exchange marked a clear turning point in what everyone thought would be a respectful rematch between two professionals. Both fighters had been praised for their mature approach to the first fight and its aftermath, but something about sitting across from each other again brought out a different energy.
