Sami Zayn Defeats Aleister Black for WWE United States Championship, Damian Priest Gets His Revnge on Aleister Black

Ashish Negi

Sami Zayn defended his United States Championship against Aleister Black in the most anticlimactic way tonight. Out of all four opponents Sami Zayn faced during the Open Challenge for his US Title, Aleister Black was the toughest. In fact, Aleister Black dominated Sami Zayn most of the match, and it was only after Damian Priest arrived by the ringside that he got distracted.

Sami Zayn, who looked clueless against Aleister Black, took advantage of the latter’s distraction, delivered a Helluva Kick to him, followed by a Blue Thunderbomb to win the match. Damian Priest then got his revenge on Aleister Black when he delivered a Razor’s Edge to Aleister Black and sent him through the table. Aleister Black has attacked Damian Priest many times on SmackDown in the past few weeks.

Sami Zayn vs Aleister Black, Open Challenge for WWE US Title on SmackDown

This was Sami Zayn’s fourth consecutive title defence on Friday Night SmackDown. He already defeated Rey Fenix, Carmelo Hayes, and Je’Von Evans in the last three weeks. Carmelo Hayes was the first to respond to an open challenge tonight, but the Miz put him down with a Soul Crushing Finale. It was in retaliation for Carmelo Hayes breaking the alliance with the Miz.

Carmelo Hayes couldn’t compete in a singles match, and Aleister Black stepped up to accept the open challenge post that. Sami Zayn has been a fighting champion and has now defended his title for 34 days since he defeated Solo Sikoa to win it. While Aleister Black posed a serious threat to his title, a small distraction was enough for Sami Zayn to steal the momentum and win the match.

Sami Zayn has now competed in five matches in five consecutive weeks, starting with his match against John Cena that ended in a no result. Will he continue his open challenge for the United States Championship next week as well?
