Anthony Davis finished the game with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists.

Anthony Davis ended the silence after his poor show against the Kings last night. The Lakers guard candidly revealed details of phone call with wife Marlen Polanco Davis. The whole drama started after Lakers’ 103-99 win over the Kings in NBA on Saturday.

Anthony Davis once again faltered in a clutch moment as he missed two free throws with around 10 seconds left in the game. The Lakers star discussed with his wife who told him he was “saved” by Rui Hachimura. “My wife even called me and said, ‘Rui saved you.’ So that made me feel worse,” Anthony Davis said.

How Rui Hachimura saved Anthony Davis and Lakers on Saturday?

It was a rematch of Lakers and Kings on Saturday night where Los Angeles made a sweep in a two-game set. Anthony Davis missed two straight free throws with 12.1 seconds left when Lakers had a 2-point lead in the game. It was a crunch phase of the game where Kings had a chance to overturn the deficit.

Lakers relieved the pressure through Rui Hachimura who made a crucial tap-out rebound. De’Aaron Fox’s foul allowed Austin Reaves to make two free throws. Lakers avoided any mistake in the clutch time and secured a 4-point win over the Kings. Hachimura and Reaves saved Anthony Davis, who had a poor show in clutch time.

Hachimura shared his thought after the game and his offensive rebounds which bailed out Anthony Davis. “I saw the subbed in Alex Len so they knew it was gonna be a big rebound play,” the Lakers forward said. “There were three big men under there so I knew the other guy next to me was gonna go to AD. So I knew if I pushed him a little bit I could kind of get a good position and I could tap it out.”

Anthony Davis finished the game with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. LeBron James, who turned 40 this week, scored 32 points while shooting 13-for-24. The Lakers now improved to 16-12 with the 7-9 away record.
