Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has never shied away from controversy. Her latest remarks about Khabib Nurmagomedov have reignited debate across the MMA world. In a recent sit-down with comedian Bert Kreischer, Rousey went on an explicit rant against MMA fans, accusing them of abandoning their heroes the moment their dominance fades. She claimed that Khabib’s immaculate image exists only because he retired before ever tasting defeat.

“I think the only reason why MMA fans have their lips so firmly planted at the base of Khabib’s c*ck is because he retired before he reached his limit,” Rousey said. “If he kept fighting until he reached his limit, everybody would be like, ‘Khabib ain’t sh*t, he never was sh*t.’”

Ronda Says Khabib’s Legacy Survived As He Quit at His Prime

The UFC Hall of Famer went on to draw parallels to legends like Chuck Liddell, ‘Rampage’ Jackson, and Brock Lesnar. Rousey claimed that fans quickly discard their past champions once they start losing. “Name one past champion that has the kind of respect that the current champions do,” she continued. “It’s really sad because I think it encourages people to get out while they’re peaking and take all of that equity with them instead of passing it on to whoever’s next.”

Reflecting on her own MMA journey, Rousey admitted that fear of losing once pushed her toward early retirement. “I wanted to retire undefeated because I was so afraid everything I accomplished would mean nothing if I ever lost,” she explained. “In WWE, you have to retire on a loss because you have to pass that torch on. In MMA, they try to take the torch with them because of how the fans respond.”

Her comments also highlight her long-standing disconnect with MMA media and fan culture. Rousey stated in May 2024 that she hasn’t attended a UFC fight since her 2016 retirement, saying, “I feel like I’m really vilified by MMA media at this point… I’m pretty sure if I walked into the arena, I’d be booed.”

Meanwhile, UFC CEO Dana White continues to extend an invitation. “I love her,” he told reporters after UFC 321. “She’s welcome to anything we have. It’s her house. it will always be her house.” Yet with Rousey’s latest remarks aimed directly at the fanbase, it seems unlikely she’ll accept that invitation anytime soon.
