Who Will Drive for Red Bull in 2025 Formula 1 Season? Red Bull 2025 Starting Drivers Line-Up

Red Bull Racing has lost Checo and Newey. Will they manage to compete as efficiently in 2025 with a new driver?

Red Bull racing have refreshed their driver lineup ahead of the 2025 season. The 2021 season saw Red Bull take Sergio Perez under their mantle to race alongside Max Verstappen. The pairing was considered a dream team for Red Bull. Sergio Perez’s efforts were crucial for the team and Max Verstappen himself in the 2021 championship battle. After Formula 1 changed regulations favoring ground effects in 2022, Red Bull’s performance skyrocketed. Suddenly, the Bulls were predominantly faster than any other car on the grid.

Red Bull were able to breeze through the 2022 season with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen taking multiple victories and podium finishes. However, tensions rose in the 2023 season when Sergio Perez was unable to perform better and he was constantly outmanoeuvred by Verstappen.

The 2024 season only got worse as Perez was practically non-existent in Red Bull’s charge for the constructor’s championship. He was unable to fight alongside Max Verstappen for the majority of the season and was ultimately ousted from the team. Red Bull have started over for the 2025 season in hopes of finding a suitable second driver for the 2025 season.

Red Bull Drivers for 2025 Season

Max Verstappen (#1) and Liam Lawson (#30) are going to be the drivers for Red Bull Racing in the 2025 Formula 1 championship. Max Verstappen is a four-time champion with Red Bull Racing and the defending champion. On other hand, Liam Lawson is a rookie driver who has served as a replacement for the Bulls in the previous seasons. His experience in the Super Formula series and his consistent point finishes as a replacement earned him a promotion to the famed (read cursed) second seat at the Milton Keynes outfit.

Will Liam Lawson’s driving style help Max Verstappen?

The biggest problem Bulls have faced is finding a driver suitable enough to partner Max Verstappen. They shuffled through drivers like cards on deck but they couldn’t find anyone close enough. Verstappen prefers a car which oversteers, paired with his ability to squeeze the maximum potential out of the car like a race-winning machine. None of the other drivers have had the ability to even match Verstappen let alone defeat him at Red Bull. However, reports suggest that Liam Lawson might be a different story.

Christian Horner has commented in front of media houses that he believes that there is a risk of repeating the past with Lawson. But, more than that, he believes in Lawson’s ability. Liam Lawson prefers a car which oversteers, similar to Max Verstappen. The best part about it is that his preference for a positive front end would help Max Verstappen due to the negligible difference in the setups that the two teams will run. This will help Red Bull provide better upgrades to the team and to Max Verstappen in particular.

Liam Lawson himself supports the idea of adapting his driving style to suit the needs of his employer, “But I also don’t fully believe in ‘This doesn’t suit your driving style’. I think as drivers, we’re professionals, we have to adapt to whatever we’re driving.”
