Real Sociedad vs Celta Vigo La Liga – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw Celta Vigo come out on top with a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad.

Celta Vigo continue their pursuit of a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League as they prepare to host a struggling Real Sociedad side on Tuesday evening. With just three games remaining in the La Liga campaign, both teams will be looking to finish their season on a high.

The Sky Blues currently occupy seventh place with 49 points, two ahead of Rayo Vallecano in eighth, putting them in pole position to secure the final European qualification spot. Real Sociedad, meanwhile, find themselves in 12th after a disappointing run of form that has seen them go winless in their last five league matches. Their European qualification hopes are hanging by a thread, and anything less than three points could all but extinguish those ambitions.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw Celta Vigo come out on top with a 2-0 victory. However, history favors the home team at Anoeta Stadium as Celta haven’t won away at Real Sociedad since 2020. But with Celta surging and Real Sociedad stuttering, the momentum is clearly with the visitors.

Real Sociedad Injury News

Real Sociedad will once again be without Arsen Zakharyan, who remains sidelined with a thigh injury. Orri Oskarsson is also ruled out and Sheraldo Becker is a major doubt after all three missed the heavy defeat to Atletico Madrid. There were concerns over Mikel Oyarzabal after he was substituted at half-time in the 4-0 loss, but the Spain international has not been reported injured and is expected to retain his spot in the starting XI.

Head coach Imanol Alguacil is expected to freshen up his lineup, with Hamari Traore and Brais Mendez pushing for recalls, while Sergio Gomez is also in contention to start. In defence, Igor Zubeldia could step in if Nayef Aguerd is not passed fit.

Real Sociedad Predicted Line-Up

Remiro; Traore, Martin, Elustondo, J Lopez; Kubo, Mendez, Zubimendi, Martin, Gomez; Oyarzabal

Celta Vigo Injury News

Celta Vigo will be without defender Marcos Alonso, who serves a one-match suspension after receiving a red card in the first half against Sevilla. His absence is expected to open the door for Javi Rodriguez to slot into the starting lineup.

Carl Starfelt remains sidelined due to injury, while both Jailson and Pablo Duran are doubts for the trip to Anoeta Stadium and will be assessed closer to kickoff. Borja Iglesias, who came off the bench to score in the last match, is in line for a return to the starting XI.

Celta Vigo Predicted Line-Up

Guaita; Mingueza, Lago, Dominguez, J Rodriguez; Duran, Moriba, Beltran, Swedberg, Aspas; Iglesias
