To fill the voids and restructure, Xabi Alonso is set to join Real Madrid this summer. Moreover, the Spanish coach is already moving things as Real Madrid pursues the talents of Dean Huijsen from AFC Bournemouth.

Following the report from Fabrizio Romano suggesting that Huijsen and his agents are in Madrid to negotiate the deal, the Los Blancos have now activated the £50m clause on Huijsen as his transfer is said to be almost a done deal.

Sharing updates on the situation, Romano also captioned a report “Dean Huijsen’s camp, still in Madrid today to get the deal done with final details being sorted.” This suggests that the Spanish defender has now spent more than a day in the capital trying to finalise his contract.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus in 2024. The 20-year-old is been a regular in the Premier League as he impressed many other clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. Huijsen is also proving himself on international stages with Spain as he is reported to head to his home country to play club football.

Huijsen had a loan spell from Juventus at AS Roma in 2024. During the six months at the club, manager Jose Mourinho was quick to identify the talents of Huijsen as he kept him in high regard. The formal Real Madrid coach in an interview talked about Huijsen’s ability and future as he said: “He’s one of the biggest prospects in football and will be a very great player in the future.”

Over a year has passed since and the center-back is reportedly on the brink of joining Real Madrid. Heading to one of the best squads in football, the Spanish defender will compete with his fellow Raul Ascensio, Antonio Rudiger and Militao as they set to return as well.
