Fernandes’ Historic Victory Marks Fourth Win, Tying Club Legends Ronaldo and De Gea

Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese maestro, has made history by winning the Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year award, presented by Snapdragon. This remarkable achievement marks a historic double for the talented midfielder.

Winning the award for two consecutive seasons, Fernandes is proving to be a fan favourite all over the world at Manchester United. Fernandes’ recent 2024/25 win, with a commanding 82% of fan votes. Captaining the side, Fernandes has been the saviour of the Red Devils on several occasions in this campaign as well. 

Fernandes Joins Elite Group as Fourth-Time Winner Alongside De Gea and Ronaldo

Winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year in 2024 marks Fernandes’ fourth since joining Manchester United in 2020. Moreover, this achievement places him in the elite company of David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo. Fernandes becomes only the third player to receive the honours four times in the club’s history. 

The Portuguese midfielder also won the Players’ Player of the Year Award 2025, voted by his teammates. Winning the prize for the first time in his career, Fernandes has now won all three of Manchester United’s major end-of-season awards. Fernandes emerged victorious in the internal poll, with defender Noussair Mazraoui securing the second position, while forward Amad secured the third place. 

Scoring eight goals and nine assists in the Premier League, Fernandes has led the team in both categories this season. Moreover, the 30-year-old is also their top contributor in the Europa League as they move to the finals of the competition.

Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the UEL finals on May 22, 2025. With the struggles in the English League, both teams will have it as their only chance to play Champions League football next season. 

Fernandes will have no time to celebrate his achievements as he has important weeks ahead. Leading the lines, Ruben Amorim will again rely on his star midfielder to carry them over the lines in Bilbao later this month.
