Poland vs Moldova International Friendly – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

Poland will be without captain Robert Lewandowski for this match as the striker has chosen to rest due to fatigue.

Poland will aim to extend their perfect start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers when they welcome Moldova to the Silesian Stadium on Friday. Under head coach Michal Probierz, the hosts are riding high after back-to-back victories in March and will look to make it three in a row against a struggling Moldovan side.

After enduring a five-match winless streak earlier this year, Poland have bounced back impressively in Group G. They edged past Lithuania 1-0 thanks to a Robert Lewandowski strike and followed it up with a 2-0 victory over Malta, where Karol Swiderski scored twice. Those results have put Poland in a commanding position heading into the summer fixtures.

In contrast, Moldova’s start to the campaign has been far from ideal. Serghei Clescenco’s men have lost both of their opening qualifiers, a 5-0 hammering by Norway and a 3-2 defeat to Estonia. Their recent form across all competitions makes for grim reading, with three straight losses and just one win in their last five matches. They sit bottom of the group with zero points and a worrying -6 goal difference.

Poland will be confident of maintaining their momentum and strengthening their grip on a qualification spot, while Moldova must priduce something special to turn their campaign around. The match against Moldova will carry special meaning as veteran winger Kamil Grosicki will be officially honoured as he bids farewell to his international career.

Poland will be without captain Robert Lewandowski for this match as the veteran striker has chosen to rest due to fatigue after a long season with Barcelona. Despite Lewandowski’s absence, manager Michal Probierz has named several key players in the squad, including Jan Bednarek and Piotr Zielinski.

OGC Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka is set to start in goal for Poland in Friday’s friendly match. With centre-back Kamil Piatkowski unavailable, Poland look set to go with a back three featuring Mateusz Wieteska, Jan Bednarek, and Jakub Kiwior.
