Teams from Europe, South America, Africa and North America are in action with critical points on the line. Additionaly, the teams playing in friendly matches will look to fine-tune their preparations for the bigger challenges ahead.

From marquee clashes like Norway vs. Italy and North Macedonia vs. Belgium to highly-anticipated South American qualifiers like Colombia vs. Peru, there’s no shortage of action for football lovers today. Below is the complete schedule for today’s international matches.

World Cup Qualifiers on June 6

For the first time ever, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 48 teams, expanded from the traditional 32. This has dramatically altered the qualification landscape across the globe, adding more intensity and opportunity for national teams in every confederation.

Europe has been allocated 16 qualification spots while South American qualifiers have six direct slots and one intercontinental playoff berth. In CONCACAF, USA, Mexico, and Canada already assured spots as co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup while other CONCACAF nations are vying for the remaining berths. Qualification is being determined through a series of group stage matches and playoffs, offering nations like Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago, and Curaçao a shot at history.

The standout fixtures of the day are Norway vs Italy, North Macedonia vs Belgium and Colombia vs Peru. Italy begin their 2026 World Cup journey with a tough test away to Norway on Friday. After missing the last two World Cup tournaments, the Azzurri are under a lot of pressure to qualify this time around. The Italians will need to catch up fast in a group where Norway already has a six-point lead. Meanwhile, Belgium begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying journey with a tricky away fixture against North Macedonia.

Colombia will aim to halt a poor run of results as they welcome Peru to Barranquilla on Friday night. Currently sixth in the standings with 24 points, Nestor Lorenzo’s side are winless in their last three matches. With pressure mounting and just four matches remaining, Los Cafeteros know they can’t afford to slip up against a Peru side who have just 10 points from 14 games.
