Mohamed Salah has etched his name in football history by becoming the first-ever three-time winner of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award. The Liverpool forward previously won the award in 2018 and 2022.

He has clinched the 2025 honour after another record-breaking campaign. The 33-year-old Egyptian star surpassed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Gareth Bale in the Premier League. Each of them won the award twice.

He lifted his third and secured his latest accolade. He won from a six-man shortlist that included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

Mohamed Salah Record-Breaking Season

Salah’s recognition comes after a stunning 2024-25 season. He netted 29 Premier League goals and provided 18 assists in 2024-25 season. He played a crucial role in Liverpool reclaiming the league title by a ten-point margin over Arsenal. Across all competitions, he registered 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances.

Liverpool Wider Recognition at the PFA Awards 2025

Salah was one of four Liverpool players named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. He stood alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister. It marked the first time since 2017 that no Manchester City player featured in the team.

Salah’s milestone also added to Liverpool’s long tradition with the award. He became the tenth player from the club to be honoured. Previous winners include legends such as Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, and Luis Suarez.
