Following Liverpool’s coronation, Man City boss Pep Guardiola congratulated the Reds for their outstanding achievement.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola offered his congratulations to Liverpool after they officially secured the 2024-25 Premier League title. Guardiola praised Arne Slot’s men for their consistency and brilliance throughout the campaign, which saw the Reds clinch the championship with four games to spare following a dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
By clinching the Premier League title, Liverpool finally brought an end to Manchester City’s dominance as Pep Guardiola’s men had lifted the trophy for four consecutive seasons. It was a remarkable debut season for Liverpool boss Arne Slot, who became just the fifth manager to win the Premier League title in his debut campaign and the third-youngest ever to achieve the feat.
Despite facing several challenges this campaign, City have shown resilience and are currently sitting fourth in the standings. City secured their spot in a third consecutive FA Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, thanks to goals from Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol. They will face Crystal Palace at Wembley on 17 May and will aim to lift the trophy for the eighth time.
Following Liverpool’s coronation, Guardiola was gracious in his praise, congratulating the Reds for their outstanding achievement. However, Guardiola also issued a warning to the Reds that his Manchester City side will be coming for them next season.

Speaking in his post-match press conference after Man City’s victory in FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, Guardiola said,
“Before I start, on behalf of myself and all the club, we want to congratulate Liverpool or their Premier League victory. It’s well deserved, no doubts about that.”
“They are a fantastic team. For one year, they’re going to retain the title and hopefully next season we can be better to compete until the end, which this season was not possible. So congratulations to Liverpool.”
A touch of class.
