Mohamed Salah Becomes Highest International Goalscorer in Premier League History

Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions in spectacular fashion on Sunday as the Reds claimed a commanding 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool not only lifted their 20th English top-flight title – drawing level with Manchester United – but also witnessed Mohamed Salah etch his name into Premier League history.

The Egyptian forward became the Premier League’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer, surpassing Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero. Salah broke the record with his 185th Premier League goal, a clinical strike that put Liverpool 4-1 up against Spurs and effectively sealed the win.

Salah Celebrates Milestone in Style

Salah’s strike against Tottenham marked his 46th goal contribution in the Premier League this season, leaving him just one shy of matching Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s record for the most goal contributions in a single campaign. It was also his 28th league goal and his 33rd across all competitions this term.

The iconic moment was met with thunderous roars from the Kop and Salah celebrated the achievement in fitting fashion. Spotting a fan holding out a phone from the stands, the Liverpool star took the fan’s phone and captured a jubilant selfie with the Anfield faithful.

“To win the Premier League here with the fans is special, it’s an incredible feeling,” Salah said after the match. “This is way better than five years ago, without a shadow of a doubt. To do it again after five years is something special.”

Before the game, Mohamed Salah was tied with former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on 184 goals at the top of the Premier League’s all-time foreign goalscorers list. However, with his goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the 63rd minute, Salah moved clear as he netted his 185th Premier League goal.

The Liverpool talisman’s goal also propels him into fifth place on the Premier League’s all-time scorers list. Salah now trails only legends Andy Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (208), Harry Kane (213) and Alan Shearer (260).
