Patrick Mahomes has become some of the most dominant quarterbacks to ever play the game of football. Ever since he was drafted to the league, Mahomes has been winning. He has helped the Kansas City Chiefs to advance to the playoffs every single season. Mahomes and the Chiefs have not lost in a divisional or the wildcard round since 2018. He was been to the AFC championship round for seven straight seasons and the Super Bowl for 5 times in his career. Mahomes has already won three Super Bowl titles and is looking to add more this season.

To call Mahomes, one of the best, would be an understatement. He has won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2022 and 2023. A third-straight title would mean that the Chiefs will become the greatest dynasty of all time. Whereas for Mahomes, the discussion for who’s the greatest QB of all time, will have to be checked again.

So far in his career, Mahomes’ playoff record sits at 17-3 and in the regular season, he is 89-23. The last time Mahomes was beaten in the playoffs was three years ago. His 3 playoff losses were handed to him by Tom Brady and Joe Burrow. Other star QBs such as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, C.J Stroud, have not won a single playoff matchup against the Chiefs.

Which Team Almost Drafted Patrick Mahomes?

The New York Jets almost drafted Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL draft. Mahomes thought that the Jets were definitely interested in drafting him as the 6th pick of the 2017 draft. Mahomes said “I definitely thought there was interest there,” before a match vs. the Jets in 2020.

Who Did The Jets Draft Instead Of Patrick Mahomes?

The Jets drafted Jamal Adams, who plays as a safety for the Detroit Lions. Adams was picked by the Jets in the 2017 NFL draft as the the sixth overall pick in the first round. He was not a bad pick as Adams immediately had an impact playing for the Jets. Adams is a three time pro-bowler and also a three time All-Pro (1st team- once, 2nd team- twice).

Adams has been bouncing around the league and ever since the 2022 season, his production has not been the same. At the time, in 2017, the Jets needed an elite safety. Mahomes also thought so as he said “At the time, they drafted a great player in Jamal Adams…you can’t really argue with that one.”

The Chiefs traded up to select Mahomes as the 10th overall pick whereas Adams was drafted as the 6th overall. However, when we’re talking about a talent like Mahomes, there’s no question that the Jets fumbled a generational talent!
