Paris Saint-Germain’s injury woes have deepened once again in one night of a Champions League game. Their ace Ousmane Dembele is facing another frustrating spell on the sidelines. The French winger was forced off early during PSG’s defeat to Bayern Munich.
The French forward, who recently claimed the Ballon d’Or, had to be taken off only 25 minutes into the match. The night quickly turned from hopeful to heartbreaking for both player and club. Especially considering the French giants ultimately lost 2-1 to a 10-man Bayern.

Dembele had started brightly, even finding the net before his effort was ruled out for offside by VAR. Just minutes later, he appeared to pull up awkwardly. He promptly signaled to the bench before heading straight down the tunnel, visibly agitated. Manager Luis Enrique addressed the situation post-match.
Speaking to the media, he said, “We will have to wait until tomorrow to see the results of the tests to find out the extent of the injuries. But Ousmane’s injury has nothing to do with his last one.” Unfortunately for PSG fans, the subsequent medical update confirmed their worst fears.

The club announced that Dembele had sustained a calf lesion and would undergo treatment in the coming weeks. Although no exact timeline was shared, several reports suggested that the forward is expected to miss several weeks. It would rule him out of PSG’s trip to Lyon and the upcoming international fixtures with France.
This marks the second time this season Dembele has been sidelined through muscular problems. He has already missed over a month earlier due to a hamstring injury. That prior setback interrupted his momentum just as he was beginning to settle into Luis Enrique’s system.

Now, with another layoff ahead, the 28-year-old’s rhythm is once again disrupted. The injury also leaves France manager Didier Deschamps with a headache ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Especially considering fellow attackers Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola are also unavailable.
For PSG, Dembele’s absence compounds an already serious injury list that includes Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes alongside Doue and Barcola. PSG are getting ready for a challenging few weeks, the coach will be hoping that this latest setback proves short-lived.
