Bayern Munich continued their flawless run in the Champions League with a resilient 2-1 win against defending champions PSG at Parc des Princes. The German side were reduced to ten men just before half-time. Even then, they displayed extraordinary composure and defensive discipline. The Bavarians preserved and held onto their perfect start to the season.

It has been their 16th consecutive win across all competitions. The first half was a showcase of Bayern’s attacking efficiency and relentless pressing. Luis Díaz struck within four minutes. He converted after Lucas Chevalier parried Michael Olise’s effort. The Colombian doubled his tally soon after.

He capitalized on Marquinhos’ lapse in concentration to slot home coolly. Bayern’s dominance could have yielded more. Serge Gnabry was denied twice by the woodwork. But Díaz’s evening turned from dazzling to disastrous when his reckless challenge on Achraf Hakimi earned him a straight red card following VAR intervention.

Manuel Neuer and Dayot Upamecano Hold the Line

Bayern were forced to play the entire second half with ten men after Diaz was sent off. It saw them fall back and defend deep against a rejuvenated PSG. Captain Manuel Neuer, named UEFA’s Player of the Match, produced several crucial saves. He denied Goncalo Ramos and substitute Joao Neves.

After the match, Neuer said, “We showed in the first half that we were the better team. In the second half, things were different due to the red card. We had to fight with ten men.” Neves eventually pulled one back in the 74th minute with a sharp volley from Kang-in Lee’s cross.

The goal ignited late tension inside the Parc des Princes. Yet Dayot Upamecano anchored Bayern’s defense superbly. He repelled every wave of PSG pressure. Midfielder Joshua Kimmich lauded the team’s resilience, saying, “It was one of the most intense halves I’ve played in my career. We stayed focused and didn’t let them break us down.”

Vincent Kompany’s men showed adaptability and mental fortitude which they have rarely needed so far in their current campaign. Missing key players like Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, Bayern relied on tactical flexibility and unity to see the game through.

PSG, meanwhile, were left frustrated. They lost both Ousmane Dembele to injury and their rhythm in front of a restless home crowd. For Bayern, this win confirmed that their perfect start continues. They will continue to try holding onto it further this weekend against Union Berlin.
