Oleksandr Zinchenko to Nottingham Forest: Transfer Details Revealed

Nottingham Forest have finalized a late transfer move for Arsenal full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. They completed a season-long loan before the summer window slammed shut on Monday. The deal was confirmed after Forest submitted a deal sheet ahead of the 7pm deadline.

This came after they went through a failed attempt to sign Javi Galan from Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old Zinchenko had entered the final year of his Arsenal contract and struggled for regular minutes in recent seasons. He joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022 for around £30 million.

The Ukrainian initially established himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back. He played a key role in Arsenal’s back-to-back Premier League title challenges. However, with the rise of academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly and the arrivals of Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie, Zinchenko’s opportunities became limited.

The signing of Zinchenko marks Forest’s 12th addition of the summer. Ross Wilson, the club’s chief football officer, praised the move, stating, “Alex’s pedigree speaks for itself. He was a big part of an extremely successful Manchester City team and played an important role for Arsenal in recent years. He brings invaluable experience to Nottingham Forest.”

Wilson added that Forest have worked tirelessly to assemble a squad blending youth and experience. They’re determined to compete at the highest level across all competitions this season. Zinchenko joins fellow newcomers such as Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, Arnaud Kalimuendo, and Botafogo’s Cuiabano.

Zinchenko was not the only left-sided player to arrive on Deadline Day. Cuiabano also sealed a four-year deal with Forest from Botafogo. Nottingham Forest’s transfer activity has been intense this summer. They spent over £180 million, including some high-profile signings.

Hutchinson from Ipswich and McAtee from Manchester City joined them. Meanwhile, Zinchenko moves across the Premier League after making 91 appearances for Arsenal. Last season, he featured only 23 times across all competitions as Arteta reshaped his defensive options.

The Ukrainian will now look to regain form and consistency at the City Ground under Nuno Espirito Santo. However, the coach’s future at the club remains uncertain following public comments about transfer delays. Forest will resume Premier League action against Arsenal on September 13. There, Zinchenko could debut facing his parent club.
