Novak Djokovic Joins Ligue 2 Team Le Mans FC as Investor in Star-Studded Move

The Tennis Legend Teams Up With Ex-F1 Stars Massa and Magnussen To Back Ligue 2 Club’s Ambitious New Era.

Novak Djokovic has recently added football club ownership to his long list of achievements. He has joined a consortium of investors that includes former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen to buy into French Ligue 2 side Le Mans FC. The investment was announced by the club on Friday.

The move marks a new chapter for Le Mans. They recently earned promotion back to Ligue 2 after finishing second in the Championnat National last season. Club president Thierry Gomez welcomed the involvement of the high-profile athletes.

OutField’s involvement as a strategic move has also solidified Le Mans’ status in French professional football. Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion and one of tennis’ most decorated players, brings international recognition and prestige to the project.

Gomez said in a club statement, “Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa, and Kevin Magnussen will be part of the adventure.” The Serbian icon’s ‘mental strength and unique approach’ were highlighted by the club as assets that will add considerable value to their vision.

Novak Djokovic Driving Fusion of Football and Motorsport

Le Mans FC’s identity is closely tied to motorsport. Especially given the city’s global reputation as host of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Massa and Magnussen’s involvement further cements this unique connection. Massa won 11 Formula 1 races and nearly claimed the 2008 world title.

He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “When my good friend and partner at OakBerry, Georgios Frangulis, presented the project to me, I wanted to be a part of it – especially alongside people I deeply respect, like Djokovic and Magnussen.”

Magnussen is also a veteran of nearly 200 F1 starts, including a recent stint in endurance racing. He is also no stranger to Le Mans. He raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year with BMW M Team WRT. The investment group also includes Georgios Frangulis, CEO of health food brand OakBerry.

He emphasized the cultural and sporting potential of the club, saying, “Le Mans has a unique name in world sport. The sense of belonging the club can offer makes this project exceptional.” The trio’s involvement will not only bring capital but also global visibility and strategic input to ambitious teams like Le Mans FC.
