“No Game Is Pretty” – Steph Curry Digs Deep to Carry Short-Handed Warriors Past Houston

Steph Curry put the Golden State Warriors on his back Saturday night, delivering a masterclass performance to lift them past the Houston Rockets without Jimmy Butler. Curry was full of praise of his teammates, especially the defenders, for the grit play that they carried on to shut down the likes of Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, Sengun.

On the massive third game win, Curry said, “No game is going to be pretty. You just have to grind it out. Stick with the runs, make the right statement, and shots start to fall. We made a pretty good defensive stand. Draymond was good, and everyone stepped up in place of Jimmy. Hopefully he’s back soon.”

While the Saturday night victory remained a team effort with role players stepping up, it was Steph Curry who led the belief both inside and outside the court. The Windy City Assassin dropped 36 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. The 36-year-old was highly active on the defense as well, constantly blocking Brooks and stealing the ball from him as well.

In one instance, Steph Curry stretched himself with his hands going as high as they could. Dillon Brooks was ready to step back and launch a shot, but Curry blocked and stole the ball, passing it for a two pointer. Such critical plays showed how hungry Curry was for that victory.

Gary Payton II Sparks Warriors’ Fourth-Quarter Charge

Steph Curry was also in full praise of Gary Payton II, who stepped up in the absence of Jimmy Butler. His personal 9-2 run in the fourth quarter was what swung the momentum and gave a night-night to Houston’s chances in the game.

Curry on his teammate’s performance said, “Gary was unbelievable. Taking advantage of double team up top. Getting in the paint, finishing at the rim, big three in the corner. Obviously, what he does on the defense end. He was part of 22 Championship team and knows what it takes.”

Golden State Warriors greatly benefitted from Payton’s rise in the absence of star play Jimmy Butler. Payton II scored 16 points in 21 minutes of action. While another role player, Buddy Hield stepped up as well and scored 17 points against the Houston Rockets on Saturday.
