Luka Doncic was struggling with a stomach bug in Game 3, which had a clear impact on his performance.
The Los Angeles Lakers will aim to avoid a 3-1 hole as they meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs 2025 first-round series on Sunday, April 27 at Target Center. After kicking off their 65th NBA Playoff campaign with an embarrassing 117-95 loss at home, the Lakers made a quick comeback. In Game 2, they recorded a 94-85 win, and leveled the series 1-1.
While it looked like a favorable road ahead, fate had some other plans. Lakers’ newest superstar Luka Doncic, who dropped 37 points and 31 points in first two games, respectively, struggled with a stomach bug in Game 3. Clearly, Doncic’s performance was severely impacted and he tallied just 17 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. While LeBron James came up with a vintage 38-point performance, it clearly didn’t prove enough and the Lakers slumped 116-104.
Following the game, head coach JJ Redick shared an update on the Slovenian Superstar and shared that Luka wasn’t feeling well the night before the match. He said, “He hasn’t been feeling well for the last 24 hours…He didn’t feel well last night. His stomach was bothering him.”

Not only did Luka’s poor health had a direct impact on the game’s outcome, but it also sent a wave of panic among Lakers fans. While the 26-year-old was last reported to be puking all day with his stomach bug, he hasn’t been listed on injury report ahead of Game 4. It means that Doncic is perfectly fine to lace up for a crucial game, where he would aim to level the series before action moves to Game 5.

Doncic was acquired by the Lakers before the NBA trade deadline in February 2025. Since his debut in Gold and Purple, he has played 28 regular season games, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.
Doncic turned out to be a valuable addition for the Lakers, and he paired up with LeBron James to guide the franchise to multiple wins.
