Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes the race for the 2025/26 Premier League title could be the most competitive one yet. He opined that as many as nine teams are capable of becoming champions this season in the Premier League. Speaking during Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Singapore, Arteta expressed confidence about his team’s chances to win the Premier League but he also acknowledged the fierce competition.

The Gunners boss said that his team have the “right ingredients” to finally go one step further after finishing second in each of the past three seasons. Arsenal have been active in the summer transfer window, having already spent over £120m on new signings as they prepare for another title challenge. The Gunners have added Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga to their squad this summer. Further reinforcements are expected, with the club in advanced talks for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

Tougher Competition Than Ever in Title Race: Arteta

Arteta believes Arsenal’s current mix of youth, experience and hunger puts them in a strong position heading into the new season. However, he admitted his side won’t be alone in the race. Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have all been busy this summer. Liverpool’s spending has surpassed £250m, Chelsea have spent close to £200m, while Manchester City have invested over £100m as the Premier League giants continue to reshape their squad.

When asked if now is the time for Arsenal to finally lift silverware, Arteta replied,

“Yes I do. It is getting more and more competitive each year. The level is increasing. Every year we have to see how things develop, but I see the right balance in terms of maturity, experience, youth, hunger – all these ingredients are there.”

“The thing is there are another six, seven, eight clubs in the league that have the right ingredients to win and there is only going to be one winner.”

Arteta stressed the need to improve the current squad in addition to new signings. He pointed out that pre-season was crucial in setting the right fundamentals for the campaign ahead. Arsenal face AC Milan and Newcastle during their Singapore Festival of Football tour.
