The day went from bad to worse for the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions on Friday Night SmackDown tonight. Charlotte Flair lost her match to Nia Jax owing to a distraction caused by the NXT star Lash Legend. If it wasn’t bad enough, she and Alexa Bliss were misted backstage by Asuka.
The rivalry between The Kabuki Warriors and Flair & Bliss is not new. The alliance of Nia Jax and Lash Legend against the tag team champions complicates matters significantly for the titleholders. Lash Legend entered SmackDown tonight and attacked Alexa Bliss, who was present by the ringside to support her tag team partner, Charlotte Flair.
The attack on Alexa Bliss distracted Charlotte Flair, who ran straight into an Annihilator from Nia Jax. Nia Jax secured a pinfall victory over Charlotte Flair. The assault didn’t stop here, as Kabuki Warriors disguised as doctors went backstage, and Asuka spewed mist into the eyes of both Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
Charlotte Flair was the one who cost Nia Jax the match against Alexa Bliss last week. She helped Alexa Bliss to secure victory over Nia Jax, which was the reason behind the match between her and Nia Jax in the first place. Nia Jax found a friend in Lash Legend, who not only assaulted Alexa Bliss but also caused a significant distraction to cost Charlotte Flair the match.
The match between Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair was a tug-of-war contest. Both opponents knew each other so well that they could counter each other and shift the momentum of the match in their favor when it was least expected. Nia Jax tried Samoan Drop on Charlotte Flair multiple times, but Charlotte Flair managed to counter it with a Tornando DDT.
It would have been Charlotte Flair’s match had there been no distraction from outside, but you know what they say: what goes around comes around. Lash Legend’s distraction cost Charlotte Flair a rare loss against Nia Jax.
