The Sunday slate of NFL games in week 3 did not disappoint with multiple high-scoring games. Week 3 also saw several teams either win or lose their first games of the season, as well as a few surprise results along the way. That said, let us take a look at all that unraveled on Sunday as we look ahead to the final game of week 3 on Monday Night Football (MNF).

First Loss of the Season for Packers, Rams, and Bengals

One of the biggest surprises of week 3 came in the form of the Green Bay Packers’ loss at the hands of the struggling Cleveland Browns. Heading into the matchup with a 2-0 record and after having defeated the Lions and Commanders, Green Bay was expected to run all over Cleveland.

However, the defensive game ended 13-10 with the Browns scoring all their points in the final quarter. The highlight of the game came with just 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter, with the Browns blocking the Packers’ field goal with the game tied at 10-10. Cleveland would then convert a 55-yard field goal of its own to seal the win and hand the Packers their first loss of the season.

In Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Rams were all over the Eagles by the end of the first half. This week 3 matchup between two 2-0 teams was being controlled by the Rams, who went into the half up 19-7, but should have been even more had they converted in the red zone.

The second half, however, belonged to the Eagles, who outscored the Rams 26-7 as A.J. Brown finished with six catches for 109 yards after being held to zero receptions in the first half. The loss sent the Rams’ record to 2-1, while the Eagles maintain a perfect 3-0 start.

The Minnesota Vikings handed the Cincinnati Bengals their first loss of the year, demolishing the AFC North opponents by 38 points. In a game that featured backup quarterbacks for both teams, it was the Carson Wentz-led Vikings that got the better of Jake Browning and the Bengals.

Vikings’ cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was the star of the game without a doubt. The 27-year-old created history with a pick 6, followed by a fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown, and then forced another fumble.

The Arizona Cardinals lost a closely contested game against divisional opponents, the San Francisco 49ers, as they now fall to 2-1 on the season. Backup QB, Mac Jones, led a game-winning drive, setting up kicker Eddy Pineiro for a chip-shot field goal to seal the game.

Chiefs Earn First Win after Defeating Giants in New York

A crucial game for the Kansas City Chiefs, who took on the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football (SNF) as both 0-2 teams locked horns in the Big Apple. The Chiefs were able to overcome a strong Giants’ pass rush, even though it was a struggle.

Winning their first game of the season was extremely important after a 0-2 start, especially with tough games coming up, starting with the Ravens in week 4. The Chiefs’ defense was the x-factor once again as it held Russell Wilson to just 160 passing yards with no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Malik Nabers was also neutralized, finishing with just 2 catches for 13 yards.

Bears Take Down Cowboys with Sensational Win on the Road

Caleb Williams had a game to remember, leading the Chicago Bears to a huge win at home against the Dallas Cowboys. The second-year quarterback finished with 298 passing yards and 4 touchdowns, with wide receiver Luther Burden III eclipsing the 100-yard receiving mark.

Tight end Jake Fergusson was the best pass-catcher for the Cowboys, finishing with 13 receptions for 82 yards. But Dak Prescott was picked off twice, and Joe Milton III was intercepted once, as linebacker Tremaine Edmunds came down with two of the three picks.

NFL Sunday Notable Injuries

The NFL’s week 3 Sunday slate of games also had its fair share of injuries, with notable players such as Mike Evans, Najee Harris, CeeDee Lamb, Nick Bosa, and James Conner all leaving games at various stages.

Cowboys’ receiver, CeeDee Lamb, left the game against the Bears after an ankle injury. He will undergo an MRI today to find out the extent of the injury. However, a more serious injury is that of the Chargers’ running back Najee Harris, who suffered a non-contact Achilles tendon injury. Harris had to be carted off the field, and his 2025 season is believed to be over.

Additionally, the Arizona Cardinals have also received some bad news. Running back James Conner suffered a gruesome ankle injury and had to be carted off the field. Further updates have confirmed that he will need to undergo surgery, and his 2025 campaign is over.

Buccaneers’ wide receiver Mike Evans left the game following a hamstring injury. The exact extent of the injury is unknown at the moment, but he is expected to miss some action in the upcoming weeks.

Elsewhere, 49ers’ defensive end Nick Bosa also left the game following a knee injury. Initial tests seem to have ruled out an ACL tear, but his week 4 participation hangs in the balance.
