American football quarterback Shedeur Deion Sanders played two seasons of college football at the Jackson State Tigers (2021-22). Being named as a starter in the fall season of 2021, Sanders completed 3,231 yards of passes for 30 touchdowns. Being included in the second team All-SWAC, he was also named the SWAC Freshman of the Year.

Sanders transferred to Colorado State University in his junior year (2023). Appearing in 11 games in his debut year at Colorado, Sanders completed 298 passes for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns as per Sports Reference. He averaged 293.6 yards per game and was also named the PAC-12 Newcomer of the Year in 2023.

Completing one of the best seasons in CU history, Sanders was named as the Big 12 Offensive Player and Quarterback of the Year in 2024. Sanders completed 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. He was presented with the Johnny Unitas Award given to the top quarterback in college football.
