‘It’s an Offense Right Now That Is Painful to Watch!’ – NFL Analyst Goes Off on the Eagles Following Week 13 Loss to the Bears

The Black Friday game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears proved two things that had question marks over them prior to the game’s start. The first was that the Bears this season are the real deal and are not just winning games against weaker opponents.

The second was that the Eagles’ offense is truly struggling, and things have not been the same after Philly’s bye week. There has been plenty of talk over the past month or so about the Eagles and their identity on the offensive side of the ball.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown has shown his discontent one too many times, but should fans be worried after the Week 13 loss to the Bears?

Dan Orlovsky Slams the Philadelphia Eagles Offense

Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Dan Orlovsky didn’t hold back when he lauded the Chicago Bears and their effort on both sides of the ball in the Week 13 game against the Eagles. And while he gave flowers to the Bears for running for over 280 yards on the Eagles’ defense, Orlovsky also felt that the lack of production by Philly’s offense was the main culprit.

“It felt like a defense that knows the offense right now is not good and they’re just holding on,” said Orlovsky. “I have not seen anybody push around the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense the way Chicago did.”

Philly’s lack of offensive production this season has been a topic of conversation multiple times. In spite of the fact that the Eagles started the season 6-2 before their bye week and followed it up with 2 more wins, the offense has struggled mightily in their last four games. As a matter of fact, the Eagles have averaged just over 15 points on offense in that 4-game period.

“Then you watch the offense,” Orlovsky continued. “And the first third down of the game, they call a pass concept that only beats one coverage, and it’s an offense right now that is painful to watch.”

Jalen Hurts Believes in Having an Identity

After scoring just 15 points in the loss to the Bears in Week 13, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke about how having an identity is the key to having confidence.

“I have a lot of confidence when we have an identity,” Hurts said. “So I think that’s the first thing that we have to establish that we’ve talked about.”

The problem at the moment is that they don’t have an identity. Last season, when they went on their Super Bowl run, the team had a specific identity that revolved around Saquon Barkley and the run game.

This year, Barkley has looked nothing more than an average running back at best. Additionally, wide receiver A.J. Brown has made his displeasure with the lack of targets very clear. The issue at hand is that while Brown is seeing much more of the ball lately, the Eagles aren’t winning enough of those games.

And the latest loss now has fans calling for the firing of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, whose house was also vandalized after the Black Friday loss to the Bears. With 5 more games left before the end of the regular season, the Eagles still have time to turn things around, but it has to be quick, especially now that there are multiple teams in the NFC good enough to challenge the reigning Champs.
