Thanksgiving Weekend may have come to an end on Sunday, but the NFL’s 4 days of football continued on Monday with Monday Night Football (MNF) featuring the Patriots and Giants.

Both teams couldn’t have been more different as New England came into the Week 13 matchup with a 10-2 record, while New York held a 2-8 record. The game was expected to be one-sided traffic, and that is exactly how it played out as the Patriots blew away the Giants 33-15.

Patriots Defense Keeps the Giants in Check

New England’s defense held the Giants’ offense for the most part of the game, not allowing them to settle into any rhythm. There was only 1 turnover, a lost fumble recovered by the Patriots with just over 2 minutes left in the second quarter.

However, the Giants’ offense was restricted to just 14 first downs and 239 total yards of offense, which included just 128 passing yards and 111 rushing yards. Moreover, the Patriots did well to allow just 4 of 13 third-down conversions, while shutting them down on fourth down completely. New York attempted three 4th down conversions but couldn’t convert even one.

Drake Maye Puts in Another Solid Performance

Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has been having an excellent year and is in the running for the MVP award at the end of the season. Tonight, once again, he proved his worth, leading the Patriots the right way.

Maye set the tone early on offense, even when the run game was not flourishing. Maye’s calmness under center enabled the Patriots to score points on 5 of their 6 first-half drives as New England took a huge 30-7 lead into halftime. Eventually, the 23-year-old finished the game, completing 24 of 31 passes for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns to close out a comfortable win over the Giants.

Patriots Shine On Special Teams

The game started with the Patriots getting excellent field position near midfield following the opening kickoff return that went 39 yards. That set up the first points of the game as New England converted a 22-yard field goal to go up 3-0 on the first drive of the game.

New England’s special teams had another huge play in the first quarter of the game. The Giants were forced to punt after their opening drive stalled, but Patriots’ returner Marcus Jones took it all the way back for a 94-yard punt return touchdown, handing New England a 10-7 lead in no time.

Overall, Jones had 3 punt returns for 124 yards and a touchdown, while their three kick returns yielded 79 yards. Andres Borregales also made 4 of 5 field goals to cap off an excellent night on special teams for the Patriots.

Apart from Drake Maye’s superb play, Hunter Henry stood out for New England in tonight’s game, finishing with 4 receptions for 73 yards, while TreVeyon Henderson had 67 yards on 11 carries.

Jaxson Dart had just 139 passing yards, going 17 of 24, which included one touchdown. Devin Singletary had 67 yards from 12 carries, while Darius Slayton had 2 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown for the Giants.

With this win on Monday Night Football, the Patriots have now won 10 in a row and are back on top of the AFC with an 11-2 record. New England now heads into its bye week in Week 14 and will take on the Bills the following week, a crucial matchup as far as the AFC East is concerned.

The Giants slip further to 2-11 on the season and are also heading into their bye week. In Week 15, they will take on the Commanders, who themselves are struggling for wins.
