The New Orleans Saints had a challenging year in 2024 as they finished the season with 5 wins and 12 losses last season. They were dead last in the NFC South, marking a disappointing outcome as they finished the year without a playoff berth yet again. In fact, it has been four seasons since the Saints were in the playoffs and the last time they played in the postseason was when Drew Brees was still active. The Saints are not the absolute worst but they aren’t good either. After Brees retired, the Saints have not won double-digit games in any of the four seasons.

How Did the Saints Perform Last Season?

The Saints were off to a great start to the 2024 season, with a 2-0 record, scoring over 40 points in both of those games. They practically fooled everyone but then they immediately hit a skid with a 7-game losing streak. After just 9 games, the Saints fired their then-head coach, Dennis Allen and their interim head coach, Darren Rizzi, took over. Under Rizzi, the team went 3-5 but that wasn’t enough to get themselves in the playoffs.

The Saints also had one of their worst games ever as they were shut out by the Green Bay Packers in Week 16 of the regular season. However, despite the ugly season, the Saints do have something to look forward to. They will get the 9th pick in the 2025 NFL draft and they also hired Kellen Moore as their new head coach, who just helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl last season.
