Will Richard
Will Richard is an American professional basketball player, born on December 24, 2002, in Fairburn, Georgia. His parents are Helen and Al Richard, and he has two siblings, Sara and AJ. His father played football at Clemson University. Richard attended Woodward Academy for high school. Richard played college basketball at two different universities. He began his collegiate career at Belmont, playing for the Belmont Bruins during the 2021-22 season. As a freshman, he averaged 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of 0.468 and a free throw percentage of 0.804. He scored in double figures in 23 of 33 games, earning Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team honors. After his freshman year, Richard transferred to the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators from 2022 to 2025. During his junior season (2023-24), he averaged 11.4 points and 3.9 rebounds, hitting a personal best 70 3-pointers and having 20 double-digit scoring performances. He continued to impress, averaging 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in his senior season (2024-25). He was a member of the 2025 Final Four All-Tournament Team, the 2025 All-SEC Tournament Team, and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2024 and 2025, and the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2023. He also won an NCAA championship in 2025. Will Richard declared for the 2025 NBA draft and was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 56th overall pick in the second round. After the draft, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. In late September 2025, the Warriors signed Richard to a four-year rookie contract, with two years fully guaranteed. He made his preseason debut with the Warriors, earning his first preseason start on October 20, 2025, against the Trail Blazers. Initial reports indicate he has already made a positive impression, with Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and player Jimmy Butler praising his performance in practice.
