Micah Peavy
Micah Peavy was born on July 16, 2001, in Cibolo, Texas, USA, to David and Tamara Peavy. His family has a strong basketball background, with both parents and siblings, DJ and Teanna Peavy, having played college basketball. Peavy attended Dekaney High School in Houston, Texas, for his freshman and sophomore years, and later transferred to Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, for his junior and senior years. During his senior year, he showcased his talent, averaging 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, which earned him the TABC Class 6A Player of the Year award. He also participated in the Jordan Brand Classic in 2020. Peavy’s college career began at Texas Tech, where he played for the Red Raiders during the 2020-2021 season. As a freshman, he started 25 of 29 games, averaging 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. After his freshman year, he transferred to TCU, playing for the Horned Frogs from 2021 to 2024. At TCU, he continued to develop his game, averaging 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in the 2021-2022 season. In 2022-2023, he played in 30 games with eight starts, averaging 7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and one steal per game. His performance further improved in the 2023-2024 season, where he started all 34 games, averaging 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, and scoring in double digits 20 times. He re-entered the NCAA transfer portal after this season. For his final year of college basketball (2024-2025), Peavy transferred to Georgetown, where he played and started in 32 games. He was a key player for the Hoyas, leading the team with an average of 17.2 points per game overall and 19.2 points per game in Big East conference play. He also led the Big East conference in steals per game, averaging 2.31 steals, along with 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. His strong performance at Georgetown earned him First-team All-Big East honors in 2025. Throughout his NCAA career, he averaged 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals, with a field goal percentage of 45.1%. He graduated with a degree in Justice & Peace Studies from Georgetown. Micah Peavy declared for the 2025 NBA Draft and was selected as the 40th overall pick in the second round by the Washington Wizards. Shortly after being selected, he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, with the trade becoming official on July 6, 2025. The following day, Peavy signed his rookie contract with the Pelicans, marking the beginning of his professional basketball career. He is listed as a guard/power forward, standing 6’7″ tall and weighing 216 lbs. He is known for his defensive versatility and impact on that end of the court.
