Dylan Harper was born on March 2, 2006, in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, USA. He is the son of former NBA player Ron Harper. Standing at 6’6″ (1.98 m) and weighing 210 lbs (95 kg), he primarily plays as a point guard or shooting guard. Harper’s exceptional high school career at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, earned him numerous accolades. He was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top players in the 2024 class. His high school honors include being named McDonald’s All-American Co-MVP (2024), Jordan Brand Classic MVP (2024), Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year (2024), and a member of the prestigious Nike Hoop Summit team (2024). He was also the Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year in 2024. On December 6, 2023, Harper committed to playing college basketball for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for the 2024-2025 season, following in the footsteps of his brother Ron Harper Jr. He was the highest-rated recruit in program history. During his lone season at Rutgers, he was a key player, averaging 19.4 points per game. He earned Third Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors in 2025. Harper was a highly anticipated prospect for the 2025 NBA Draft. He was selected with the second overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Following the draft, he was included in the Spurs’ 2025 NBA Summer League roster. On July 3, 2025, the Spurs officially signed Harper. In his brief professional career with the San Antonio Spurs, Harper has already shown promising signs. In a preseason game on October 13, 2025, he contributed 11 points, eight assists, and two steals in 22 minutes during a 124-108 victory over the Pacers, nearly achieving a double-double and leading his team in assists. His playing style is often compared to players like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Brunson, known for his ability to play with and without the ball, strong ball-handling, and effective playmaking in the pick-and-roll. He is also noted for his rebounding at his position, averaging 7.1 rebounds per game in the Nike EYBL in 2023. Harper is praised for his tenacity and ability to impact the game beyond just scoring.
