The rising NBA Draft prospect comes from a deeply rooted basketball family.
Dylan Harper is a standout point guard who made headlines during the recent college basketball season with his strong individual performances. He led a struggling Rutgers Scarlet Knights squad but couldn’t guide them to a March Madness appearance. In the NBA draft 2025, he was selected by the San Antonio Spurs as No. 2 pick.
Harper is predicted to land a top draft pick in the upcoming Brooklyn based event. The San Antonio Spurs already made mind for the 19-year-old for their No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft and they picked him without any thought. The point guard averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists with an impressive field goal percentage of 48.4.

Dylan Harper’s parents are Maria-Harper Marinick and Ron Harper. The 19-year-old hails from a basketball-rich household, with both parents deeply involved in the sport’s ecosystem for decades. They are still active in the circles of the game.
Maria-Harper Marinick and Ron Harper have three children’s including Dylan Harper. The eldest sibling, Ron Harper Jr., has played in the NBA for both the Toronto Raptors and the Detroit Pistons in recent seasons. He’s regularly featuring in the G-League as well.
Dylan’s father, Ron Harper, enjoyed an illustrious NBA career, playing for some of the league’s most iconic teams. The 61-year-old played for the Chicago Bulls in the 90s with basketball legend Michael Jordan. He was also part of the Los Angeles Lakers side that had both Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal at the turn of the century.
A five-time NBA Champion, Harper averaged 13 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 44% from the field over his career. The shooting guard is now retired and mentors his younger son, who is soon to enter the NBA Draft.
Maria-Harper Marinick a.k.a. Maria Harper played college basketball and later became an assistant coach. She laid the early technical foundation for Dylan Harper’s understanding of the game. She currently serves as an assistant coach at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
The former Rutgers Scarlet Knights guard shares a unique blend of ethnicities with his parents. Maria-Harper Marinick moved from the Philippines in the early years, while Ron Harper belongs to African American Ethnicity. Both parents hold American nationality despite their diverse ethnic roots.
