The Los Angeles Lakers found their momentum back with a 95-84 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night to tie the playoff series 1-1. The opening quarter outburst pushed sixth-seeded Minnesota behind in the game, and they couldn’t recover against a tight defense of the Lakers. Luka Doncic scored back-to-back 30-point performances and ended up on the winning side in Game 2.
LeBron James finished with 21 points and Austin Reaves added 16 for the Lakers, who built a 19-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Julius Randle scored a playoff career-high 27 points and Anthony Edwards added 25 for the Timberwolves, who entered the game with a 117-95 victory on Saturday. The series will head to Minnesota for Game 3 on Friday, Apr 25.

The Los Angeles Lakers were under pressure ahead of Game 2, and they showcased their offensive strength from the first quarter. An 11-4 run in the opening four minutes put them ahead in the game. Los Angeles held a 34-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, and Luka Doncic scored 16.
The Wolves sparked an 8-0 run in the second quarter, but the Lakers maintained their lead to a double-digit margin. Lakers opened the third quarter with nine straight points to stretch their lead to 20 points, and Doncic was one assist shy of reaching a triple-double. He scored 34 points in Game 1 but fell short of victory.

Minnesota rallied for a comeback and had a 12-3 run to cut the lead to 86-77. Despite a dominating final quarter, the Timberwolves lost this game 94-85. James also contributed 11 rebounds, and Hachimura added 11 points. Lakers’ starters scored 86.2% of the team’s points while shooting 45.3% compared to the Wolves’ 38%.
The Timberwolves shot 38% overall and went 5-for-25 from 3-point range. Meanwhile, the Lakers also struggled in 3-point shooting and went 6-for-29. It was a choppy game between the two with 46 combined personal fouls and multiple video reviews. Both teams will be in action for Game 3 in Minneapolis on Friday, and it should be a cracking contest.
