Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Jan. 18, 2025, where we witnessed six matchups. Nick Richards made his season debut for the Suns and Draymond Green returned for the Warriors but faced a calf injury. We saw some top-class performances from Kevin Durant, Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell and Anthony Edwards.

From Caves maintaining their unbeaten run against Western Conference sides to the Warriors escaping against the Wizards, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Saturday.

Pistons 121-125 Suns

Kevin Durant highlighted a 36-point performance, including 30 points in the second half and the Suns squeezed past the Pistons 125-121. Devin Booker added 35 points and Center Nick Richards had 21 points and 11 rebounds on his debut for the Suns, who won for the fifth time in six games. Tobias Harris paced the Pistons with 21 points, and Cade Cunningham contributed 20 points and 11 assists. Jalen Duren had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Malik Beasley chipped in with 14 points.

Pacers 115-102 76ers

Indiana Pacers overcame the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers to reach fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Pascal Siakam dropped 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, while Myles Turner finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Indiana have won eight out of last nine games. Tyrese Maxey scored 28 points for the 76ers, who were missing five key players. Ricky Council IV added a career-high 18 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in 18. The Sixers have lost five straight games and fell to 11th in the East.

Celtics 115-119 Hawks (OT)

Trae Young scored 28 points and 12 assists, and Atlanta held the nerves to defeat the Boston Celtics in overtime. Dyson Daniels added 23 points, including a short jumper with just over a minute left. Onyeka Okongwu made two free throws with 11 seconds left to win it for Atlanta. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 24 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Jayson Tatum, who was questionable due to injury, poured in 23 points and shot 7 of 21 overall. Celtics lost third in five games and the Hawks won their third straight game.

Warriors 122-114 Wizards

Golden State Warriors survived a scar against the Washington Wizards to win their second straight game. Stephen Curry scored 26 points before leaving the game due to an ankle sprain in the final minute. The veteran guard led the Warriors with an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter. Draymond Green also left the court on his return after missing three games. Andrew Wiggins had 31 points and 11 rebounds. Poole led Washington with 38 points in his second game at Chase Center since the Warriors traded him to the Wizards.

Timberwolves 117-124 Cavaliers

NBA-leading Cavaliers continued their dream run against the Western Conference sides as they secured a win over Timberwolves. Donovan Mitchell scored 36 points, while Darius Garland chipped in with 29. Caves had a 10-0 run in the fourth to take control of the game. Anthony Edwards scored 28 points and Julius Randle added 20 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists for the Wolves, who were missing key guard Donte DiVincenzo with a left great toe sprain. Edwards also became the third-youngest player in NBA history to score 8,000 points.

Trail Blazers 103-125 Rockets

Houston Rockets handed a fifth straight loss to the Trail Blazers and won sixth in seven games. Jalen Green scored 26 points and Alperen Sengun added 23 points and 15 rebounds in the win. Scoot Henderson led the Blazers with 21 points and 11 assists off the bench. Toumani Camara added 17 points while Fred VanVleet finished with nine points. Portland were one-point behind at halftime but their inconsistent shooting allowed Houston to outscore them 74-53 in the second half.
