NBA 2024-25 Awards Odds- Who Are Leading Race to Win Top NBA Honors?

Garima Ranawat

The NBA will announce winners of individual honors for the ongoing season in a few weeks.

As the 2024-25 season reached its last leg, the NBA unveiled a list of three finalists for each of the seven individual award categories on Sunday. In one of the most-anticipated categories, the Kia MVP Most Valuable Player of the Year, the NBA has named Milwaukee Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo as one of the finalists. He joined Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, who were headlining the category for most of the season.

Apart from it, San Antonio Spurs’ Stephon Castle has been nominated for the Rookie of the Year Award. The other two nominees in this category are Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher and Grizzlies’ Jaylen Wells. Castle, who was drafted as the fourth overall pick by the Spurs in the 2024 NBA draft, finished the season averaging 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. On the other hand, Risacher, who was the first overall pick, recorded an average of 12.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

Another popular category, Defensive Player of the Year, has Dyson Daniels from the Hawks, Warriors’ Draymond Green, and Cavaliers’ Evan Mobley as the finalists. Interestingly, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was seen as a potential winner of the DPOY Award this season.

However, he isn’t eligible for the award after being ruled out for the season following a deep vein thrombosis diagnosis in February. In addition, the league announced three finalists each for the remaining four categories.

NBA 2024-25 Season Awards Odds

While the names of the winners are expected to be unveiled in a few weeks, odds show a clear picture of the expected winners. On the basis of their performances throughout the season, let’s see which finalists are favored by odds to take the title home.

Kia NBA Most Valuable Player

As the 2024-25 regular season approached its end, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made a significant jump in the odds to win the MVP Award. At the beginning of the season, Jokic was leading the race to win the award. His odds went as high as 49.0% chance in December 2024. However, things took a sharp turn from late December when SGA started to lead the race and is now 97% favored to win the award, per Polymarket.com. Jokic is 3% favored, while Greek Freak’s chances stand at less than 1%.

Kia NBA Rookie of the Year

There had always been a close competition among Castle, Risacher and Wells right from the beginning of the season. However, after dropping to 15.6% in early February, Castle’s odds rose like no other. He is a clear favorite to win with 99.2% chances, while Wells has almost 6% chance to make it. On the other hand, Risacher has less than 1% chance.

Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year

One of the most interesting awards this season, the DPOY odds favor Evan Mobley with 77.7% chances. Warriors’ Green is trailing him at 14.2%, while Daniels stands around 10% chances to win the award.

Kia NBA Most Improved Player

Dyson Daniels is highly likely to win the award with 87% chances while Ivica Zubac stands at 9.6%. Cade Cunningham, who finished the season at an average of 26.1 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists has around 2.9% chances to win the award.

Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year

The bookmaker hasn’t updated the odds for the NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award. The three finalists in the category are New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards, and Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic.

NBA Coach of the Year

Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coach Kenny Atkinson is leading the charts with a 95.1% chance to win the NBA Coach of the Year Award. The odds for Ime Udoka to win the award are 5.3%, while those for J.B. Bickerstaff haven’t been updated yet.
