Mouratoglou was the longtime coach of Serena Williams but couldn't stay longer with Osaka.

The four-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka decided to end the partnership with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The Japanese sensation announced on social media that she is not working with Patrick Mouratoglou and ending the coaching stint which lasted less than a year.

This news came just after Osaka’s early exit in the Washington Open last. She decided to part ways with her coach before entering in the Masters 1000 event in Toronto. The former No. 1 is preparing for the US Open which will be held from August 24. Osaka are two-time US Open winner and would eye third title glory.

Naomi Osaka moves on from Patrick Mouratoglou, the longtime coach of Serena Williams

Naomi Osaka announced on her social media on Sunday by sharing photo of her hitting a practice serve while her coach stands nearby. Her post reads, “Merci Patrick. It was such a great experience learning from you. Wishing you nothing but the best. You are one of the coolest people I’ve ever met and I’m sure I’ll see you around.”

Mouratoglou was the longtime coach of Serena Williams but couldn’t stay longer with Osaka. The Japanese ace hired him after the second-round exit at last year’s US Open. During this run, she played three Grand Slam events and failed to deliver her best run. This year, she posted a 21-11 record and slipped to outside of top-50 in the WTA rankings.

Osaka’s only title glory this year came at the WTA 125 Open de Saint-Malo tournament which was her first title since 2021 Australian Open. She hasn’t crossed the third round of a Grand Slam event since winning the Australian Open 2021. There is no update on her new coach but Osaka will soon find a coach ahead of the US Open.
