Tallon Griekspoor vs. Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction and Betting Odds for ATP National Bank Open 2025 Second Round

Rudra Dubey

Griekspoor aims to build on Mallorca success as he faces Etcheverry’s unpredictable challenge in Toronto.

The 24th seed, Tallon Griekspoor, kicks off his National Bank Open campaign in the second round against the unseeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry. As a seeded player, Griekspoor received a first-round bye, while Etcheverry edged past qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert in a three-set battle to earn his spot.

Griekspoor has been quietly building momentum this season with several deep runs, though consistency is an issue. The Dutchman, who turned pro in 2015, recently lifted his third career title in Mallorca, defeating Corentin Moutet in straight sets. He also made a finals run in Marrakech, reached the semifinals in Dubai and Challenger Bordeaux, and posted quarterfinal appearances in Indian Wells, Munich, Nordea, and Occitanie. Statistically, he’s fired 331 aces this season, winning 74% of his first serve points and converting 38% of 220 break points.

Etcheverry, meanwhile, has had a more modest year marked by inconsistency but occasional flashes of form. The Argentine reached the semifinals in Hamburg, losing in three sets to Flavio Cobolli, and made quarterfinal runs in Chile, Challenger Cap Cana, Challenger Turin, and Halle. Still searching for his maiden ATP title, the 2017 pro has recorded 210 aces, with 71% of first-serve points won, a solid 28% on first-serve returns, and a 35% break point conversion rate.

But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
