The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals series against the Golden State Warriors, who were previously up 1-0. The Timberwolves have all the advantage in the world, as the Warriors will be playing for the majority of the series without Stephen Curry, and he is expected to be out of the lineup at least until Game 6. So the question to be asked is, can the Timberwolves take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Warriors tonight? Let’s find out.
The Warriors fought hard in their last game even without their franchise player, Stephen Curry, in the game. Playoff Jimmy showed up last game and dropped 33 points in Game 3. Their game plan was to give the ball to Butler, and make him drive down the lane almost every possession which resulted in a lot of foul calls and scoring in the paint. Jonathan Kuminga played significant minutes last game, as he dropped 30 points to help the Warriors stay in the game. However, in the end, the Timberwolves rallied past them and took a 2-1 lead.

The Warriors clearly need Stephen Curry to showup at some point in this series, because without him the Warriors do not have consistent scoring production or floor spacing, which has helped the Timberwolves take the lead in the series. Tonight’s game is a must-win situation for the Warriors as coming back from a 3-1 deficit is nearly going to be impossible without Curry leading the pack.
The Timberwolves have taken full advantage of the Curry-less Warriors, and despite a strong performance from Jimmy Butler, they stood their ground, and won Game 3. Anthony Edwards balled out last game as he dropped 36 points, and helped the Timberwolves survive and win Game 3. Julius Randle is clearly giving the Warriors a lot of trouble inside as he had a 24-point triple double last game. The two stars have helped the Timberwolves win two games so far, however, they too are in a much-win situation as the Warriors are still playing without Curry, who’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury . The Timberwolves just need to win two more games to advance, and taking a 3-1 lead tonight will surely increase their chances of going back to the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back years.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry will miss tonight’s action against the Timberwolves as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he suffered early on.
