‘This Is Not Football’ – Micah Parsons, Other NFL Analysts and Players Criticize Philadelphia Eagles for Excessive Tush Push Play!

Devavrat Kulkarni

The hatred towards the Tush Push continues to grow!

The Philadelphia Eagles just suffered their second straight loss after they lost 34-17 to the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football (TNF) last night.

The Giants, led by rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, took the game to the Eagles despite missing two of their starting wide receivers and came through with an unexpected win.

In a game that saw the Eagles’ defense give up 34 points, it was the offense that generated plenty of criticism, mostly due to their over-reliance on the ‘Tush Push’.

Micah Parsons Calls Out the Tush Push As Not Football

Green Bay Packers’ pass rusher, Micah Parsons, took to social media to voice out his displeasure over the Eagles’ beloved play, calling it ‘not football’ after Philadelphia ran the same play four times in a row to eventually score a touchdown.

Parsons, who was formerly a part of the Cowboys, is well aware of the said play, having had to be on the receiving end of it multiple times every time Dallas played Philly during their NFC East division battles.

However, it is not just Parsons as fans of the game, analysts, and even other players have come out and criticized the play with three different notions. Earlier in the season, the Packers, along with some other teams, tried to ban the play over player safety concerns, but failed to do so as they couldn’t tally the majority of votes.

Some others are of the opinion that it is not even a football play and looks more like something one would see in a rugby match. Moreover, has drawn criticism for being ugly, lacking creativity, and even plain boring to watch.

And thirdly, the Eagles’ linemen are jumping offside on numerous occasions in every game they run this play. Despite the NFL asking referees to pay closer attention, last night we witnessed more false starts and the Eagles ended up scoring a touchdown.

This has been happening too many times, with the recent examples coming in the Eagles’ games against the Rams and the Chiefs. There is now an increased demand to have this play either banned or officiated closely. But since there are so many bodies jumbled together, it is extremely hard to spot these false starts, making life for the officials even tougher.

Despite the Tush Push working well for the Eagles, they were unable to get the offense rolling in the second half and eventually fell to a heavy defeat. Nevertheless, quarterback Jalen Hurts kept a positive approach in his post-game media session.

Jalen Hurts Unperturbed After Loss

Following the loss to the Giants last night, Hurts addressed the media session, where he was asked about how he remains confident despite the inconsistencies in the first six weeks.

“Take it a day at a time. You try and approach it, you know, wise competitor approach them all the same,” Said Hurts. “So whether it’s a win or a loss, there’s a lot to learn in both. Obviously, coming up short, it lights a different type of fire in you, but we just got to grow from it.”

The Eagles will now take on the Minnesota Vikings in their next game, which is on Sunday, October 19. They will look to regroup from the two consecutive losses before a rematch with the Giants the following week.

I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
