There was a time when the Miami Dolphins lost their 6th game as their week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills took them closer to elimination. The comeback of Tua Tagovailoa to the Dolphins was not yielding results but the Dolphins were not done!

We are in week 18 and who would have thought that the Dolphins would still be in the fight for a spot in the postseason! Miami are 8-8 through week 17, with their week 18 game versus the Jets just a couple of hours away. Tyreek Hill and co. are still in the hunt, no matter how low their chances of making it to the playoffs are.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals finished their season with a win over the Steelers yesterday and are still in playoff contention. But will a win in the Jets vs. Dolphins game will be enough for Miami to get a spot in the postseason or is there more to it than what meets the eye? Here is how the Miami Dolphins can make the playoffs!

Miami Dolphins Playoff Chances

According to the playoff picture predictor by NFL.com, the Dolphins currently have a 9 percent chance of making the playoffs as they enter the game versus the Jets. If they win the game, their chances will go as high as 22 percent. But they will need one more favor from another game that will be played at the same time at the Empower Field at Mile High!

How do the Miami Dolphins make the Playoffs?

There are two things that need to happen for the Miami Dolphins to make the playoffs.

The Miami Dolphins will have to beat the New York Jets, at all costs. Though the Dolphins are the favorites to win, there is a strong possibility that it might not be that easy. The Dolphins will be without Tua Tagovailoa, who will be replaced by QB Tyler Huntley. Another, this could be the last NFL game for Aaron Rodgers’ iconic career. Hence, he would like to go out in style.
The Broncos must lose their game to the Kansas City Chiefs. Miami would hope for Carson Wentz and the Chiefs to take care of Bo Nix and the Broncos.

If both of the above conditions can be met, the Dolphins can still make the playoffs. If the Dolphins and the Broncos both lose, the Bengals will make it to the playoffs.
