The Canadian Grand Prix gave Max Verstappen a better race than his championship rivals. He got himself a podium finish and had a clean race without disturbing his penalty points. Ever since his collision with Russell in Spain, Max Verstappen’s penalty is a highly discussed topic in the F1 paddock. There’s still one race to go before his two penalty points expire in July 2025.

Max Verstappen was approached by the media once again. He was furious at the media last weekend for their questions. The media was over exaggerating Verstappen’s race ban dangers during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. Even though he had a rather clean race in Montreal, the media isn’t ready to accept it. However, Verstappen is keeping his lips shut in front of the media. He is completely frustrated by the mention of penalty points again and again.

Max Verstappen Fears a Race Ban for Speaking About Penalty Points

Once more the reporters crowded around Max Verstappen to ask him about his penalty points during media session on Thursday. The Dutchman is showing a rather silent attitude in the 2025 season. He doesn’t try to provoke the media more by answering them. Verstappen also chooses his words extremely carefully to not let the media make a controversy out of them.

This time around, Verstappen ended up slamming the media shut for disturbing him once again.

“Are you joking? Is this a trap? I have been getting this question for weeks now and I have nothing to add to previous answers. I won’t say anything about that either because I don’t want to risk getting a penalty point because of my answer.”

Verstappen’s words point towards the strict regulations induced by FIA. The Dutchman has more important things to handle this weekend rather than entertain penalty point chatter. Red Bull Racing are giving him new upgrades for the weekend. Verstappen will hope to capitalize on the success of the previous weekend. Nevertheless, the danger of a race ban still hangs above his head.

He only needs one more penalty point for a race ban. According to the FIA rulebook, it’s easy to gain a penalty point for many different reasons including impending a driver. Verstappen will have to race a 100% clean weekend.
