The Dallas Mavericks are set to lock horns with the Sacramento Kings in another anticipated NBA clash on Monday, March 3. The Mavericks are coming on the back of a big 132-117 loss against the Bucks, whereas the Kings recorded a 113-103 win over the Rockets in the previous game.

The Mavs, seeded tenth in the Western Conference, have been in decent form off late. Currently maintaining a 32-29 tally, the Jason Kidd side has won six of their last ten contests. However, they are currently dealing with inconsistency, and will aim to get back on the track by winning a few straight games.

As the Kyrie Irving-starring side aim to bounce back from their previous defeat, they will be without a few key pieces, including their newest acquisition, Anthony Davis. The Mavericks signed the former Lakers’ veteran in exchange for their reliable star Luka Doncic in one of the most shocking deals.

While Doncic’s injury layoff apparently prompted the front office to let go of their promising star, things didn’t turn out to be in their favor. Davis, who made his debut for his new team in the 116-105 win over the Rockets, suffered a non-contact injury in the first game.

While the ten-time All-Star mentioned that it wasn’t a serious injury, he was sidelined for a month. Luckily for them, Davis has been showing speedy recovery and is back on the courts for pregame workouts. He is expected to be re-evaluated later this week and a call will be taken about his return following it.

Will Anthony Davis play against the Kings tonight?

Ahead of Monday’s clash, the Mavericks released their injury report, according to which a total of five players will miss the Kings’ game. Anthony Davis has been listed out with his left adductor strain.

The 31-year-old will continue to miss action for his new team. Davis has already expressed his eagerness to be back on the court. However, it seems that the franchise has learnt a hard lesson and it would want their big man to take his time and return only when he is fully ready.

Apart from Davis, P.J. Washington has been listed out with a right ankle sprain, while Daniel Gafford will be out with a right knee sprain. Moreover, Dereck Lively II and Caleb Martin will also miss action with right ankle stress fracture and hip strain, respectively.

Anthony Davis’ form before injury

Anthony Davis, who is in his 13th NBA season, played his first game for the Mavericks on February 8. While the Mavs recorded a 116-115 win over their counterparts, Davis was forced to walk out in the final minutes due to an injury.

However, before walking out, Anthony had made sure to announce his arrival in Dallas. He went all guns blazing right from the beginning and finished with 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. He also outscored everyone, including Kyrie Irving, who scored 13 points that night. Things were looking perfect, especially for Irving, who was kinda shouldering scoring responsibility.

During his debut game, Anthony seemed to be in perfect harmony with his teammate, and displayed it with a lob in the second quarter. Moreover, just when Davis walked out before the end of the third quarter, Irving kept his side’s offense going. He came up with the Mavericks’ first eight points of the fourth quarter.

Coming back to Davis, he missed the Lakers’ final two games due to abdominal strain. However, in his last five games for the former side, he was in excellent form, maintaining an average of 27 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Considering he has only played one game for the side, Mavericks won’t miss much of him but would hope for his quick recovery to shoulder some scoring responsibilities.

Will Anthony Davis’ absence have an affect on Mavericks’ chances of winning?

Despite not having Davis by their side, the Mavericks hold better chances of winning the game with a margin of 11-15 points, as per BetMG M.
