Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund Could Be Swapped for Viktor Osimhen from Napoli

Manchester United are reportedly considering a swap deal involving Rasmus Hojlund and €40 million to acquire Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Hojlund has struggled this season, while Osimhen has been in prolific form on loan at Galatasaray.

The English club could offer Hojlund as a part of the deal which might cost them around €80 million in the summer window. Ruben Amorim’s side who has struggled for goals this season reportedly have eyes on adding firepower upfront already.

The English club could offer €40 million in addition to Hojlund for Osimhen. Hojlund who has struggled to leave his remark since his arrival in 2023, has been on a drought this season.

On the contrary, Osimhen who is on loan to Galatasaray from Napoli is leading the team to what could be a successful season. Scoring 26 goals in all competitions, he is their top-scorer this season.

Rasmus Hojlund Admitted His Struggle at Manchester United

After ending his two-month against Leicester City, Hojlund has opened up about his time at United. Talking about having to adjust to new positions and improving, the 22-year-old said:

“I think obviously I’ve not been on top of my game as I wanted to and we’re still adapting to a new system and some new positions. But I think I’ve been growing into it lately and starting to look a bit better.”

“But I’m just happy to get on the scoresheet and I’m sure they will come more now. I’m happy, but it’s not all about goals. I’m obviously very happy to get my goal and it gives me a lot of confidence.”

The talks of his swap deal in the same week as his statements. United who has struggled for goals this season with Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee upfront. Combining for just six goals in the Premier League this season, the striker duo’s inefficiencies can be reflected in United’s season.

Ruben Amorim in his first season at the club is having his critics already. Being positioned 13th on the table after having 37 points in 29 games, United could miss out on the Champions League qualification second consecutive season. However, after a comfortable Round of 16 victory over Real Sociedad, Amorim could turn the tides his way with a tick through the Europa League.
