Manchester United’s revival under Ruben Amorim has gained further momentum as the Red Devils defeated Brighton by a 4-2 margin at Old Trafford on Saturday. With that win, Manchester United registered their third straight Premier League win, thanks to goals from Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, and Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo’s brace sealed a thrilling result that lifted Man United into the top four. Thus, marking a significant turnaround in form after a turbulent start to the season. The Red Devils started the match full of confidence following back-to-back wins against Sunderland and Liverpool.

That energy translated onto the pitch when Cunha opened the scoring, registering his debut goal for the club in the first half. Casemiro doubled the lead shortly after with a deflected strike. Meanwhile Mbeumo extended the advantage just after the break with a composed finish.

Despite Man United’s dominance, Brighton fought back through Danny Welbeck’s stunning free-kick and Charalampos Kostoulas’ late header. However, Mbeumo’s stoppage-time strike sealed his brace and Brighton’s fate. Amorim hailed Mbeumo as ‘a working machine’.

Manchester United Gain Momentum

The result represented more than just three points for the Red Devils. It reflected the progress Amorim’s side has made in recent weeks. Under mounting pressure earlier this month, the Portuguese manager seems to have steadied the ship.

Speaking after the win, Amorim said, “We suffered a little bit in the end, but it would not be Manchester United without suffering a little bit. We deserved the win against a very good team.” Casemiro’s form epitomised that resurgence. Once struggling for game time, the Brazilian has re-emerged as a leader.

He has been contributing both defensively and offensively. Amorim praised his resilience, noting that “he fought and worked his way back.” Meanwhile, new arrivals Cunha and Mbeumo have injected newfound life into the attack. Their understanding has revitalised United’s forward play

With momentum finally on their side, Amorim’s men will now aim to build on this resurgence when they face Nottingham Forest next week. While Amorim remains cautious, acknowledging that “everything in football can change in one week,” the mood has undeniably shifted toward optimism.
