Manchester City To Build A Special Kevin De Bruyne Statue Celebrating Midfielder’s Decorated Etihad Career

A Lasting Tribute to Kevin De Bruyne’s Legacy at Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne played his final game at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Following their 3-1 win over Bournemouth, De Bruyne was presented with a special farewell ceremony as the fans were told to stay back after the game. In the series of activities like a parade and the Belgian being presented on the pitch, a celebratory news broke out.

Manchester City announced that they will honour Kevin De Bruyne’s decade of service at the Club by building a special statue outside the Etihad Stadium. After a decade of remarkable success at City, where he played over 400 games and contributed to the Club’s triumph in 19 major trophies, De Bruyne will be leaving the club in the summer.

‘I Always Will Be the Part of the Club’ – KDB on his Statue Announcement 

De Bruyne, being the heart of Manchester City’s significant success, was pleased to hear the announcement. Leaving the club has the highest assist provider, the Belgian will be marked into their history books forever. Winning six Premier League trophies in his reign, De Bruyne was a huge part of the Guardiola project. 

Speaking just after the announcement of his statue build, De Bruyne, along with his family, was presented on the pitch. Expressing his gratitude towards the past decade, the Belgian in his ceremony said:

“It means I will always be part of this club. Whenever I come back with family and friends, I will be able to see myself, so I will always be here.”

De Bruyne will join this status with Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero, who have their statues outside the Etihad. Being the fourth player from Guardiola’s team, the midfielder denotes the great players he has stood out among to lead Manchester City.

Mike Summerbee, Francis Lee and Colin Bell were recognised in the latest ceremony held in 2023. Now De Bruyne will see him standing among some of the elites of the Premier League as his decade at the Etihad will be celebrated with his special statue. 

Guardiola is calling De Bruyne one of the rare players to replace as he looks to rebuild his system. De Bruyne, who’s been linked to several clubs, could also stay in the Premier League following interest from Liverpool and Aston Villa.
