Lynx vs Aces: Minnesota Lynx Take Down Las Vegas Aces 111-58 to Record the Biggest Road Win in WNBA History

This 53-point victory by the Lynx broke the record set by the Houston Comets in 1998.

On Saturday, August 2, history was scripted. The Minnesota Lynx traveled to Las Vegas to clash against the Aces and recorded a 111-58 win to mark the biggest road win in WNBA history. This 53-point victory by the Lynx broke the record set by the Houston Comets in 1998. This was the third meeting of the season between the Aces and the Lynx, with the latter leading the tally 3-0. Kayla McBride led the way for the Lynx as she dropped 24 points, two rebounds, and five assists. She was shooting 8-of-11 from the field and 8-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Napheesa Collier and Jessica Shepard dropped 18 points apiece for the winners. As Shepard grabbed 14 rebounds, she recorded her fourth double-double of the season and second in nine days. Apart from them, Natisha Hiedeman added 17 points, three rebounds, and four assists. On the other hand, the Aces, who were aiming for their first win against the season-best Lynx, displayed a poor offensive and defensive show.

Their highest scorer was Jewell Loyd, who dropped 12 points, one rebound, and two assists off the bench. A’ja Wilson came up with 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Apart from them, no other player managed to reach double-digit score. The Aces shot 34.3% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc, and 50.0% from the free-throw line. On the other hand, the Lynx were shooting 59.2% from the field, 63.0% from beyond the arc, and 71.4% from the free-throw line.

Napheesa Collier Leaves Game Midway During Blowout Win Over Las Vegas Aces

Napheesa Collier, the leading Lynx scorer, had to leave the game midway due to an injury. Towards the end of the third quarter, Collier had a collision, which led to the MVP front-runner twisting her right ankle. When around 10.8 seconds were remaining in the third quarter, Collier appeared to step on teammate Alanna Smith’s foot under the basket. The 28-year-old immediately went down on the court, while she attempted to get back on her feet, Collier failed.

She was immediately surrounded by the Aces players, who all held towels around her for privacy. Eventually, Collier was taken to the locker room, and she didn’t return for the remainder of the game. After the win, the Lynx head coach, Cheryl Reeve, said that it was too soon to share an update on Collier. However, she said that the five-time WNBA All-Star will be evaluated and examined soon.
